Meet Jayaprakash Ari, who leads the business activities for RoofandFloor. He is entrusted with the responsibility of not just increasing sales revenues but also building productive business relationships with multiple clients. In a span of over 14 years, he has carved a niche for himself by achieving even the steepest of goals in revenue as well as business development.
When asked about his typical day at work, Ari says, “There is no such thing as a typical day. Each day is different.” Sales is all about persuasion, and after a little persuasion from us, he agreed to write for RoofandFloor.
Here’s his story in his own words.
Selling since 2004
My life in the corporate world began in 2004. With over 14 years of experience in sales, I now create processes that help businesses run smoothly.
My journey with RoofandFloor began about two years ago as the Sales Head for Bangalore.
However, over the last four months, I have moved into the operations part of the business, overlooking teams that work closely with real estate builders. I head a team of operations professionals who bring specialised skills in client relationships and customer support.
“During my days as the Sales Head, I used to spend a lot of time deconstructing a meeting with a client. What went well? What could have been done differently? It used to be a tight schedule, but these meetings with clients motivated me.”
A typical day at RoofandFloor starts with me having a look at the revenue collected by the sales team. In addition to this, I spend time with my team to review their day-to-day metrics and receive updates on the new listings as well as new and existing plans for builders.
Creating new and scalable processes is at the centre of the sales operations function at RoofandFloor.
“For me, this is the most exciting aspect of working here – the ability to create processes that help the sales team get more visibility. These processes ensure that the business runs smoothly.”
Why RoofandFloor?
The online Indian real estate industry has enormous potential to bridge the gap between developers and homebuyers. And RoofandFloor is trying to narrow this gap by its innovative features and services.
Be it sales or marketing, we are trying to do things in a unique manner. The core idea being – changing the way India buys homes!
My interests – Reading and spending time with family
I spend the weekends with my family. “I have two daughters – Muktha and Prenitha. Over the weekends, we often step out to play a quick game of badminton or some chitchat sessions.”
Additionally, you will always find me reading something. I just finished reading Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind by Yuval Noah Harari. I loved how the author has covered several theories of happiness.
My favourite quote from the book is “A meaningful life can be extremely satisfying even in the midst of hardship, whereas a meaningless life is a terrible ordeal no matter how comfortable it is.”
Currently, I am reading Barking Up the Wrong Tree by Eric Barker. The book explains the myths and looks at the science behind what separates the extremely successful from the rest of us.
