A typical day at RAF will generally start with some discussion on last night’s football match. By the time I finish my morning tea, the discussion would have shifted to the centre of RAF’s universe: “The Homebuyers”.
I come from a small town in Bihar called Begusarai, and I love playing football (please stop calling it soccer). I started working in the online real estate space after graduating from IIT Kharagpur in 2014. Since then, these three years in the industry has made me realise that there is still a lot to be done for an Indian homebuyer.
In the second half of 2016, I was looking for a change in my job but was in a dilemma whether to join an exciting startup or a stable and reputed firm. RAF entered my life as a tailormade solution for my confusion. Being a part of The Hindu Group, it has a homebuyer-first approach and stays firm to its core values. Moreover, the start-up nature of the company allows me the experience of working in a fast-paced and fun-loving environment with new challenges every day.
I work at RAF as the Lead Delivery where my task is to deliver homebuyers the correct recommendations and assist them in choosing their dream home. The cross-functional nature of my role allows me to think out of the box and experiment with innovative ideas. I need to keep all stakeholders on the same page, collaborate, and move forward towards our goal of realising a homebuyer’s dream. One day I might be brainstorming with my product buddies to crack a problem, and another day I am breaking my head with the marketing folks to get the message right, or you might find me planning something out with operations.
But the most challenging part is to ensure that I don’t become the ‘Jack of all trades, master of none’, and hence I have made it a habit to keep learning with my seniors always there to guide with just the right advice.
I love working in RAF because it makes me feel like I am on a football pitch with a ball at my feet. My role is here of the midfielder (which is my actual position too ;)), and I get full freedom here to collaborate with everyone to create goals, i.e., make homebuyers realise their goal. We always have amazing managers and coaches who ensure we play beautifully, grow big and keep our homebuyers happy.
My desk will mostly have Alex Ferguson’s bio and a poster with a quote from Einstein: “If you can’t explain it simply, you don’t understand it well enough”. I strongly believe in this quote because I have realised that most of the times problems and their solutions are very simple, but we are looking somewhere else.
