Referring to the constant rift between buyers and builders in Noida, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath warned builders of stern action if they further delay the possession of homes in Noida and Greater Noida.
He asked the Chief Secretary to conduct a meeting with builders and give them a final deadline to give possession to home buyers
Addressing the crowd on Sunday at the UP Ahead Conclave organised by CREDAI in Lucknow, Adityanath said, “Despite making full payments, the buyers today are harassed. They are not getting possession on time. This has resulted in the loss of confidence among potential buyers. To bridge the gap amicably, the government will have to take strong steps.”
The Chief Minister urged builders to complete projects at the earliest. “In Noida, there have been many cases where builders have run away with money, and the burden has fallen on the government. I hope that an organisation like CREDAI will put an end to such practices,” he said.
Last week, a delegation of home buyers from Greater Noida and Noida met the Chief Minister in Lucknow to demand strict action against buyers who have been delaying projects for several years now and charging extra from buyers in the name of cost escalation, late payment, and increased farmers compensation.
The two associations, Noida Extension Flat Owners and Members Association (NEFOMA) and Noida Extension Flat Owners Welfare Association ( NEFOWA), demanded that the Real Estate Regulatory Act (RERA), passed by the central government last year should be implemented in Uttar Pradesh at the earliest and should be applied on projects in process as well.
After hearing the pleas of homebuyers, Adityanath directed Chief Secretary Rahul Bhatnagar, and the Noida and Greater Noida authorities Chief Executive Officer Amit Mohan Prasad to address home buyers’ issues at priority.
Following the CM’s statement Industries Minister Satish Mahana assured builders of providing necessary help to finish stuck projects but warned them of strict action if there is undue delay in delivering homes.
“We will provide help to builders so that they can deliver flats to home buyers. We will not provide undue help to builders. If they do not deliver, we will do what they haven’t expected us to do,” the minister said to a delegation of homebuyers and realtors.
Meanwhile, NEFOMA and NEFOWA have once again decided to go on city-wise protests against builders starting from this month end.
