It’s been a year since I joined RoofandFloor! I lead a team of marketing specialists who bring specialised skills in SEO, paid marketing, and retention marketing.
A typical day at RoofandFloor starts by me having a look at the business metrics for the previous day and analysing if things went as per the plan. In addition to this, I spend time with each of my team members to review their day-to-day metrics and receive updates on various marketing experiments which we are running.
Experimentation (hypothesis testing) is at the centre of the marketing function at RoofandFloor, and at any given point we have several experiments running across the team.
This year’s journey with my team has been a rewarding learning experience. A motivated team makes this journey exciting as the team keeps pushing you to think of new ways to engage and solve business problems. I spend more than 50% of my time to mentor and coach the team on different aspects of marketing.
My role here is that of an enabler where I empower my team members to achieve their goals.
Opportunities I perceive
The online real estate industry has not seen too much innovation in India though it is a multi-billion dollar industry. Almost all the players in this field have focused on the discovery and shortlisting of projects.
I believe that there is significant opportunity to add new offerings across the whole spectrum of the user journey.
My interests – Digital marketing, meditation, and long-term investing
There are three things which am passionate about in life.
Digital marketing: I found my passion for digital marketing quite by accident while looking at ways to promote my blog back in 2010-2011. Soon, I discovered that the science of SEO and digital marketing was more exciting to me rather than my telecom job at Nokia!
I quit to start a digital company in 2012 and ran the same for over two years. After wrapping up my startup, I went to work for Sportskeeda, Langoor Digital, and Grabhouse working on various aspects of digital marketing for these companies.
Investing: Having been an avid stock trader in the initial days of my career, I have spent significant time learning about the stock market. Over the years, I have now graduated into becoming a long-term investor where I buy value stocks and hold them for the long term.
Meditation: I practice Vipassana meditation every day and listen to spiritual talks on YouTube during the weekends.
My weekends are also spent reading on the latest stocks and even annual reports, and watching videos on long-term investing.
