The First Inter-State Metro between Tamilnadu and Karnataka has been proposed. Chennai Metro Rail (CMRL) officials recently met with representatives from Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMCRL) and local authorities.
The meeting was about a way to explore a new metro rail project connecting Bommasandra in Bengaluru to Hosur via Attibele.
The discussions focused on the viability of building a 23-kilometer-long Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) line.
This line will span 11 kilometers in Tamil Nadu and 12 kilometers in Karnataka. According to sources, the proposed route will have 12 metro stations and a depot.
CMRL is currently putting together a detailed feasibility study report for the project. This report will evaluate the feasibility of deploying the MRTS line and guide future development efforts.
Hosur is home to about 500,000 people and around 3,500 industries, including both small and medium-sized businesses as well as huge corporations like Ashok Leyland, TVS, and Titan.
Several local EV businesses, including Ather, Ola Electric, and Simple Energy, have already established manufacturing facilities in the Hosur-Krishnagiri-Dharmapuri region.
BMRCL on First Inter-State Metro in South India
However, BMRCL has informed the detailed feasibility report for the project is still incomplete. Decisions on funding for the metro line will be made only after the DFR is finalized.
According to The Hindu, senior officials hinted that Karnataka may not make a financial contribution because the initiative originated in Tamil Nadu.
The proposal to expand Bengaluru’s Namma Metro line to Hosur, an industrial region near the Karnataka-Tamil Nadu border, comes just after Tamil Nadu announced intentions to develop an international airport in Hosur.
The project on the first inter-state metro will kick start with the completion of the DFR and final agreement between the involved parties.
Once Inter-State Metro work is finished, it is intended to drastically reduce travel time and traffic congestion, offering a modern, efficient alternative to driving.
This is going to be a significant step towards regional transportation, highlighting CMRL’s commitment to expanding metro services beyond traditional limits.
The real estate market in Bangalore and Hosur is expected to experience a significant increase.
Finally, with the Inter-State Metro in the pipeline, Hosur and Bangalore will be just a Metro Ride Away!
