In the middle of Andheri in Mumbai is the house that is home to Karan Oberoi.
“It’s here I forget all the struggles, rife, and uncertainties of life,” says Karan, who rose to fame as a model and later as a singer with his band, A Band of Boys.
While talking about his home, Karan refers to it as a sanctuary.
“My home is a sanctuary. It is the place where I am at peace.”
So, what made him buy this home? Being a nature-lover, he prefers a peaceful environment, and that is exactly what his little haven provides him.
“It is in the middle of Andheri, yet it’s the quietest corner of this township. And that’s what I love about it,” he says proudly.
Most-loved space
Everybody has their own loved space. For Karan, it is where his lifeline sleeps. If you are wondering who we are referring to, it’s his cocker spaniel, Mojo, who fills his world with immeasurable joy.
Most-cherished possession
For most of us, there are certain things that we can’t imagine losing – possessions that we deeply cherish or those that would be impossible to replace as they are irreplaceable. For Karan, his musical instruments are his most cherished possession. That was an easy one to guess, isn’t it?
“I am a teetotaller and prefer my house to stay that way.”
Being a teetotaller, he does not encourage any substance abuse in his home. “I hate a smoke-filled environment, or for that matter any other kind of drugs,” he tells us in a serious tone.
Silence is therapeutic
After a long day at work, he loves to write, sing, or listen to music. But there are times when he just stays in silence reading. He says, “Sometimes stillness itself can very therapeutic.” Indeed!
Top things you must have in your home
While there are several things that Karan recommends everybody to own, we forced him to share his top three picks. These are:
- A good music player with a great collection of music (no piracy, please!)
- A bookshelf where you can store all your favourite books
- Plants and greenery to bring life and oxygen to your home décor
From modelling to singing to acting – Karan has achieved a lot and is quite satisfied with his life.
“I live my life on my terms and enjoy whatever I want to do without any pressures of conformity of any kind. I dabble in multiple things in life, and that gives me immense joy,” he says with a smile.
“I am a restless soul!”
When it comes to music, Karan has always created something fresh and different for the audience. Be it his originals or the cult classics of the 70s and 80s that he recreated, his melodious voice still leaves us in awe of his versatility!
