Tips to keep that brass gleaming
Brass is definitely in style—but not if it’s tarnished! If you’ve chosen to use brass accents in the bathroom, you’ll have to spend time caring for it to keep it in the best shape. Here’s how to keep your brassware gleaming.
- Start by washing the brass with warm water and soap, to remove any dust or debris that has settled.
- Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe dry.
- Choose a brass polish that does not contain harsh chemicals. Use a soft cleaning cloth and apply the polish according to the instructions on the bottle. Rub till the shine appears.
- If you don’t want to use a store-bought polish, lemon and salt will work as well! Cut a juicy lemon in half and put some salt on the cut end. Rub the cut lemon with the salt on the brass, getting all the juice on the surface. Rinse well with lukewarm water, and use a soft cloth to polish the surface till it gleams.
- If the brass has tarnished and changed colour, try this easy fix. A paste of baking soda and lime juice can be applied to the brass, left to sit for half an hour, and then rinsed and dried.
- Do note: If your fittings are merely brass plated and not brass all the way, then just warm water and soap will suffice.
A trend that’s sure to stay, brass accents in bathrooms add a stunning antique aesthetic and a warm, bright feel that never fails to make an impact. Turn your bathrooms into glamour rooms that are the last word in luxury by brushing them with brass!
