Bangalore – The Best Indian City to Settle Down?

We know. That’s quite a debatable heading. We analyzed a number of parameters on why we think Bangalore is one of the best Indian cities to live in. To evaluate the livability standards of a city, we take into account the different stages of life for every individual. The first is schooling, followed by college, then work, and finally retirement. The reason why Bangalore does well is that it scores relatively high in all fours areas. Let us explain how:

Educational hub

Bangalore is jostling with young parents and parents-to-be. The city has a massive number of schools, many of which are the best in the country. There are many branches of the Delhi Public School. But that’s not all. The Bishop Cotton Boys School, The Valley School, Bishop Cotton Girls, Canadian International School, Baldwin Boys’ High School, Greenwood High International, and St Joseph’s High School are just some of the popular schools, offering quality learning.

Apart from the above, there are also schools that do not follow the traditional model of learning and teach students to be able to think freely. One such school is the Swaminarayan Gurukul School.

Bangalore is one of the best places for a career in engineering. Did you know the city itself has more than 260 engineering colleges? Many institutions are recognised all across India such as Christ University, Mount Carmel College, Ramaiah Institute of Technology, Bangalore University, RV College of Engineering, and others. The prestigious Indian Institute of Management is also located here, and students wanting to do research in science can study at the Indian Institute of Science. There are very few cities in India that can offer similar or more variety.

Job opportunities

No city is more synonymous with IT and the software industry than Bangalore. In fact, it is so popular that there is now a word in the Oxford Dictionary- Bangalored.

Bangalore is simply referred to as the “Silicon Valley of India”, due to the density of software professionals present here. However, job opportunities are not just dependent on IT, but on other fields as well. The sheer number of BPOs here has made it clear that India is here to stay in the global outsourcing market. Google, Wipro, and SAP Labs are listed as some of the best places to work, all of which are present in Bangalore.

Cultural Vibrancy

Though the predominant population of the city is below 35 years, one of Bangalore’s most famous monikers is of being a Pensioner’s Paradise. Sidewalks are well laid out across most of the residential areas. There are a large number of parks and the city is still the Garden City.

The city is also a culturally vibrant hub. Regular music concerts are held here. Other than music, the theatre is also popular here- Ranga Shankara is one of the most popular venues in the country for theatre.

But how can we leave without mentioning Bangalore’s amazing weather? The city may have warmed up over the years, but it still is not a city of weather extremes.

There is not much else that you can ask of a city, as has already been described above. Yes, it is true that certain aspects of infrastructure such as traffic are painful, but then everything else makes up for it.

  1. Mumbai undoubtedly is the best city in India to settle down. Housing is the only constraint as the cost compared to Bangalore is much higher. Cost of living is relatively cheap in Mumbai. Public transport, be it the suburban trains or BEST, is available almost 24X7, which no other city in India offers. One can also move about freely even late night without fear of being robbed/molested. Other Indian cities will take at least a decade or two to match Mumbai.
