Here’s our weekly round-up of all that happened for the last week February 2018.
Bangalore
According to the Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) Karnataka there are about 1,294 unregistered projects across the state. Out of these, about 800 are in and around Bangalore.
Recently, the state RERA authority had issued notices to all unregistered projects. Till now, 488 project promoters have provided satisfactory explanations. However, replies from 251 promoters were not satisfactory, and they have been sent another notice.
The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) is pinning hopes on the proposed 11km major arterial road to revive the decreasing demand for sites in the city. Passing through Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Layout, the road will link Magadi Road and Mysore Road.
The Rs 352 Crore road project is likely to encourage vertical growth on either side of the city. Besides, with planned Metro connectivity till Challaghatta, the BDA is hoping to create as many as 40,000 sites in the Layout.
Maharashtra
The 182 winners of the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority’s (MHADA) lottery in 2015 will now have to pay Rs 2 Lakh more. The homes allotted three years ago did not have an Occupation Certificate (OC) from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, and the winners were not even issued the allotment letters.
Now, the affordable housing development authority wants to recover Rs 2 lakh from each winner of the lottery towards the maintenance of these buildings.
MHADA has issued a show cause notice to the developers of 165 ongoing redevelopment projects that have been delayed for more than a decade now.
The move is expected to force developers to complete their stalled projects at the earliest. Moreover, if there is no satisfactory reply from the developers, MHADA’s Mumbai Repair and Reconstruction Board will take over the stalled projects.
The Thane Municipal Corporation has identified various areas in Thane that can be taken up for redevelopment under its cluster redevelopment plans. These areas, spread across the 10 sectors in the city, are collectively equal to the size of four Bandra Kurla Complexes.
It is believed that nearly 22,000 houses under the affordable segment can be constructed once the entire clusters are redeveloped.
To support the mission of Housing for All by 2022, CREDAI-MCHI and CREDAI Maharashtra have entered into two separate agreements with the government of Maharashtra to develop over 9 Lakh affordable homes across the state by 2022.
As per the agreements, CREDAI-MCHI will build 2.5 Lakh homes in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), while the remaining 6.5 Lakh homes will be constructed across the rest of Maharashtra by the members of CREDAI Maharashtra.
Chennai
The Greater Chennai Corporation has issued a notice to actor Rakmi for defaulting on property taxes.
The actor co-owns an office building in Anna Salai with Nirosha. As per the reports, Ramki owes the corporation about Rs 1.17 Lakh as he hasn’t paid the property tax for the past 13 years.
The construction of a subway at the Korattur railway station has revealed forth another case of encroachment. As per the authorities, an entire street near Korattur railway station has been taken over by unauthorised buildings.
The illegal structures have come up on the public road (Town Survey No. 32) abutting the South Railway Station Road.
Hyderabad
The Hyderabad High Court has imposed a fine of Rs 1 Lakh on a builder for constructing a five-storey building in Gachibowli in an unlawful manner.
Builder Syed Moinuddin Ali Khan constructed the building by misusing the online application facility and the building regularisation scheme. When GHMC officials took action against him, he approached the court and obtained a status quo.
Despite obtaining a status quo, the builder constructed a few more floors.
The Telangana government has decided to launch a website ‘Dharani’ from March 12 that will serve as a one-stop solution for land issues. The website works on the lines of the core banking system and every transaction in the land would be recorded and updated immediately.
