Adambakkam was initially a part of Alandur Municipality, but from October 2011 onwards it came under the purview of Chennai Corporation.

Some of the major roads run through this area, making it a well-serviced area by MTC buses. The Velachery Main Road, the MKN Road, Grand Southern Trunk Road, and the Inner Ring Road has MTC buses plying to neighbouring areas such as Velachery, Guindy, Adyar, Alandur, Madipakkam and Meenambakkam.

St. Thomas Mount Railway Station, a part of the Chennai suburban railway, is the nearest railway station to Adambakkam. Alandur and the St Thomas Mount Metro Station are also in the vicinity.

The civic amenities in Adambakkam are at par with Chennai’s other suburbs, offering a great lifestyle to the dwellers. The phase II extension of the elevated Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) railway project will further improve the connectivity of the area.
