#SheInspiresMe: Manju Yagnik, Vice Chairperson, Nahar Group

In our run-up to International Women’s Day, we profile women who are making their mark in different worlds, both in the world of real estate and outside it.

Women play an important role in home buying as they can envisage the lifestyle they would create at home with their family, believes Manju Yagnik, Vice Chairperson of the Nahar Group.

In this exclusive interview, RoofandFloor celebrates her unique journey where she has carved a niche for herself in the competitive real estate market of Mumbai.

Tell us something about your journey in real estate. What inspired you to make a career in this male-dominated sector?

After completing my graduation from Kurukshetra University, I thought of using my skills in a profession that was challenging yet matched my passion. At that time, the real estate industry was not as organised as it is today.

The Indian real estate industry was once largely male-dominated, but today many large developer groups, real estate-focused lending institutions, and private equity firms now have women in leadership roles.

Do you think the number of women homebuyers is increasing?

The decision of buying a home is primarily the woman’s decision! Women envisage the lifestyle and future they would be able to create at home with their children and hence, underestimating the role of a woman in the homebuying decision is unwise.

What is your mantra for success?

Success is a combination of various things such as hard work, sincerity, innovation, and perseverance. Also, it is important for a person to follow a positive approach to achieve the desired goals. I have always believed in this, and it is my only mantra for success.

In your free time, what do you do?

I love exploring different places to understand the cultural uniqueness and lifestyle patterns of various communities.

I constantly try and discover different avenues for researching trends in the market that can be used to create the ‘wow’ factor in our projects and build unique residential spaces.

Your advice for RoofandFloor women readers.

Hard work always pays off!

It is important that your passion and profession is the same as it will drive you to explore and learn each day. Be passionate about anything you take up or develop a special interest in it.

I believe that everyone is born with some special capabilities, and therefore it is imperative that you keep analysing yourself and your special capabilities.
