Planning A Diwali Party? – Make Sure Your Home Has the Right Architecture

Whether you intend to invite a group of close friends over to your house or plan a major family get together, you need to ensure that your home is ready to receive the guests and make them feel happy and comfortable. For this you might need to make a few changes in the architecture (not the design and structure, of course) of your home and create a perfect venue for entertaining your guests in the best manner.  Discussed below are some essential home features that you need to set in place in order to organize a successful memorable get-together

Focus On the Entrance

Make sure that the entrance to your home is clean and clutter free, even if it not well decorated. Arrange organized spaces for people to put away their accessories such as coats, umbrellas, hats etc., so that they can retrieve the same easily when the party is over. You can even place a couple of chairs or benches along the entrance to enable your guests to remove their shoes etc. in a relaxed manner.

Division of Space

Dividing your home into different sections for carrying out the various activities is the best way to avoid confusion and disappointment amongst the guests. Your party space should ideally comprise of separate sections for food counters, a bar and a dancing space. In case you are using only your living and dining area for partying, you might need to plan the division in a manner that creates minimal hassles. Alternately you can set up the bar in the extra bedroom and the food counter on the terrace or vice versa. But make sure that the dance floor is always in the center or one corner of the living area.

Double Check the Washrooms

It is imperative for you to ensure that the washrooms look neat and fresh before the arrival of the first guest. However, in addition to paying attention to the cleanliness, you should also make sure that all the faucets, the toilet flush handle and other such accessories are working properly. Be sure to place a new air freshener in the washroom and also stock up an ample supply of paper napkins, hand towels and toilet paper. Place a medium to large sized dustbin in the bathroom to prevent the splatter of used napkins on the floor or worse in the toilet bowl causing it to become clogged.

Create Free Space for Movement

In most homes, the living areas often feature a wide range of seating arrangements placed generally in the center of the room. However, it is advisable to change this arrangement temporarily on the day of the party. It is better to move the chairs and sofas and place them along the walls so as to enable free movement. This can go a long way in preventing accidents or even making the space feel too crowded. In addition, it will provide a comfortable seating arrangement for the guests, especially the elderly ones, who might want to sit back and enjoy the activities going on around them.
