App Review: LAND UNIT CONVERT INDIA

Bigha, Cent or Anakanam – Land units made easy with LUCI

Different cultures measure land specifications in their native units of measurement. Not just across International borders, but also even within India, different units of measurement are used from one state to another. For example northern India uses units like Bigha, Acres, Kattha, Marla and Kanal to measure land sizes while units like Cent, Guntha and Anakanam are used in the South.

[Fun fact – It was the French in 1778, after the French Revolution, who devised and standardized land units (into acres, hectares, square metres and square feet etc,) that became accepted globally.]

Why LUCI?

The diversity of land measurements across various states in India causes much hassle for interested parties as they have to constantly convert these into the prescribed terms of a particular State. This need has been the genesis for many applications and websites that provide land unit conversions on the go. However, their complexity and poor user interface does not allow for ease of use. This is where the Land Unit Convert India (LUCI) app comes in.

Features

The application provides ease of use alongside comprehensively including major land measuring units. To use this application, insert the value of land in Bighas/Vighas. The application automatically converts the value into the required units including guntha, square metre, square yard, acres, hectares or square feet. Land consultants, builders, real estate brokers as well as home buyers and sellers can benefit from this app. It is also useful for farmers and government officials working with lands.

The app supports English and Gujarati as medium of content.

It has been rated as one of the best Land unit converters on the Google Play store. It is also for iOS devices.

Our Verdict:

We found the app extremely quick and easy to use. It has an enhanced user interface as well as user experience. The app is compatible across a wide range of devices including mobiles phones, laptops and tablets. We found the developers quite responsive to issues/questions.

Issues: As of now, advertisements take up a large amount of screen which can cause confusion to users. Values can only be entered in Bighas/Vighas.
