HSR Layout was officially renamed as Kengal Hanumanthaiah Layout, but this name is only used in the official records of the city. Locals continue to refer to this as HSR Layout.

HSR Layout is powered by the BMTC bus system, which runs an efficient network of buses that help residents to travel to all parts of Bangalore. It is about 14 kilometres away from the Bangalore City Junction, which is the main railway station of the city. Though the Kempegowda International Airport lies about 45 kilometres away from HSR Layout, airport buses here have a high frequency.
