About a decade ago, the western suburb of Thiruverkadu was popularly known for its seven and half decade old Devi Karumariamman Temple. Translating to ‘a forest of holy herbs and roots’, until a few years ago, this peaceful suburb stood entirely true to its name with vast green spaces. Today, however, the area displays a completely transformed landscape with huge residential catchments. Due to its proximity to the IT corridors and manufacturing belts, it did not take a long for Thiruverkadu to become a bourgeoning residential hotspot in the city of Chennai.
